BEAUMONT - Concerned residents didn't know what to make a teen dressed in a banana costume and toting an AK-47.
Numerous witnesses called 9-11 when they saw the 18-year-old standing near the intersection of Highway 105 at the Eastex Freeway service road in Beaumont with the rifle slung across his back.
Officers learned he was advertising for a local tactical and security store.
But, they say, the rifle had a drum magazine attached with at least 50 rounds.
Officers cited the teen for violation of a city ordinance that prohibits soliciting along roadways.
They say the teen could also face criminal charges.
