Although attacks and airstrikes continued in Anbar, the main source of militant casualties was an accidental bomb explosion at a bomb-making class in northern Iraq. Also, there were assassination attempts against the speaker of the house and a Turkmen political leader. At least 45 people were killed and 97 more were wounded in the attacks.
In Anbar province, mortars killed one person and wounded 14 more at FallujaGeneral Hospital. Three people were killed and six more were wounded in separate bombings. A suicide car bomber in Ramadi killed four servicemembers and wounded seven more. In Hit, a bomb killed a policeman and wounded three others.
In a rural area near Samarra, a bomb-making class went awry when a bomb accidentally exploded and killed as many as 25 militants. Several other were arrested, among them 15 who were wounded.
In Mosul, a bomb targeting the Speaker of Parliament Osama al-Nujaifiwounded six bodyguards when it exploded. Gunmen killed a Shabak man. Two soldiers were wounded in a small arms attack. A car bomb wounded 11 family members of the police chief. Gunmen killed two court guards. A roadside bombwounded two soldiers.
